Personal Accident (PA) Insurance
Types of PA insurance
1) Basic PA insurance
Only two benefits are cover under basic type of PA insurance, they are:
i) Death benefit
ii) Total & Permanent disablement (TPD) benefit
2) Intermediate PA insurance
The coverage includes:
i)Death benefit
ii)Total & Permanent disablement benefit
iii) Weekly indemnity for temporary total disablement benefit
This benefit pays a weekly benefit for each week when in the event an accident resulting in temporary total disablement and prevent you totally from attending your work e.g. RM300 per week, RM200 per week, etc.
iv) Weekly indemnity for temporary partial disablement benefit
This benefit pays weekly benefit for each week when in the event an accident resulting in temporary partial disablement and prevent you from attending part of your work e.g. RM150 per week, RM100 per week, etc.
Usually, weekly indemnity for temporary partial disablement benefit is 50% of weekly indemnity for temporary total disablement benefit.
These two weekly indemnity benefits always come together in a PA insurance plan.
v) Medical expenses benefit
This benefit pays as a result of an accident. Common medical expenses including the cost of a hospital room, medical treatment cost at hospital or clinic, surgical fee, etc.
3) Comprehensive PA insurance
A comprehensive PA insurance covered:
i)Death benefit
ii) Total & Permanent disablement benefits
iii) Weekly indemnity for temporary total disablement benefit
iv) Weekly indemnity for temporary partial disablement benefit
v) Medical expenses
vi) Some unique features e.g. ambulance fees, Broken bones compensation, car assistance program (24 hours emergency towing and roadside repair), cashless hospital admission facility, compassionate cash, etc.
