How to Select Hospitalization & Surgical Insurance in Malaysia

(also known as medical & health Insurance or medical card insurance in Malaysia)

 

What Are Waiting Periods?

 

Waiting period means the specific number of days (time frame) started from the policy approval date or reinstatement date whereby certain benefits are not payable. For example:

 

The waiting period for sickness claim is 30 days.

 

 

The waiting period for Specified Illnesses is 120 days. Specified Illnesses shall mean the following disabilities and its related complications:


a) Hypertension, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease
b) All tumours, cancers, cysts, nodules, polyps, stones of the urinary system and biliary system
c) All ear, nose (including sinuses) and throat conditions
d) Hernias, haemorrhoids, fistulae, hydrocele, varicocele
e) Endometriosis including disease of the reproduction system
f) Vertebro-spinal disorders (including disc) and knee conditions

When will the waiting period re-count?

 

The waiting periods will be re-count (start all over again) from the date of reinstatement of your policy. Reinstatement means to reactive a terminated policy. Outstanding premium and interests incurred have to settle before the policy can be reinstated.
